Adopt a Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Jaxon is approximately 2 1/2 yr old terrier mix, lots of energy and loves to play.  He needs a “house” with a yard (no apartments), although he walks on leash he is a nervous dog which is why a fenced yard is necessary for him to run and play.  A home with NO children, he is a fearful dog and does not like to feel cornered and does not like quick movements, he has some resource guarding issues.  A person experienced with such issues (nervous dog, resource guarding, impulse control), and able to dedicate time to Jaxon would be best.  He is potty trained on leash and wee wee pads, however if not taken out regularly he will have accidents indoors.  Crate trained and does best when home alone being crated, in addition to being crated at bed time; it’s his safe place.  He does best in plastic crate that is covered, not metal I believe he likes the cocoon affect of the plastic crates he is more nervous in metal crates even if it’s covered (crate will be provided). Jaxon is fearful of most dogs, and needs a proper introduction at his own pace, otherwise he will react.  Once introduced he may interact, or just do-exist.  He can be nervous around some people, especially men; however warms up if given time to do so and if permitted to sniff or if the human just ignores him until he relaxes.  He currently lives with one other dog and they do well together.  No real exposure to cats or other animals.  Jaxon is very smart!!!!  He knows high five, paw, up, lay down, crawl, kisses, come, and we are working on roll over.  He has recently realized he loves belly rubs.  Neutered, up to date with shots, and is on heart-worm and tick prevention meds. 



Jaxon needs a loving home with a yard and experienced owners, in the right environment Jaxon will do well.  Sadly being re-homed due to circumstances, not due to lack of love.  



If possible current owner would love to keep in touch, and even have play dates if new owner is open to doing so.  Owner is heartbroken over this decision, however knows it is best for Jaxon if he is going to flourish.
